Turia Garden
Distance: between 4 and 7 km, depending on the section.
How to get there: by metro or bus to the city centre, followed by a short walk; alternatively, by rental bicycle or electric scooter, both of which are very popular in the city.
The Turia Garden is Valencia’s great urban park, built on the former riverbed of the Turia River after its diversion in the 1960s. Stretching for nearly 9 km and covering more than 130 hectares, it is one of the largest urban parks in Spain and a symbol of the city, which was named European Green Capital 2024, thanks in large part to this exceptional green space.
The park crosses Valencia from end to end and connects, without ever leaving the green area, some of the city's most visited attractions:
- Cabecera Park: the starting point of the garden, next to Bioparc, with a lake where visitors can rent swan-shaped boats.
- Bioparc Valencia: located at the western end of the park and easily accessible via landscaped walkways.
- Museum of Fine Arts: Spain’s second most important art gallery, featuring works by Sorolla, Goya, Velázquez and El Greco, located along the northern section of the garden.
- Serranos Towers: a historic gate of Valencia’s medieval walls, offering panoramic views over the old town.
- Palau de la Música: a concert hall hosting symphonic performances throughout the year, situated beside a large fountain featuring water and light shows.- Gulliver Park: one of the city's most popular family attractions, featuring a giant 70-metre sculpture inspired by Jonathan Swift’s work, with slides, mini-golf and picnic areas. Free admission.
- City of Arts and Sciences: marking the eastern end of the garden, it includes the Oceanogràfic, Hemisfèric, Science Museum and Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía.
Along the route, visitors can discover 18 bridges from different periods, ranging from the historic San José, Serranos and Trinidad Bridges (some more than five centuries old) to contemporary landmarks designed by Santiago Calatrava, such as the Flower Bridge and Exhibition Bridge, as well as the Arts Bridge, designed by Norman Foster.
The park also offers free sports facilities, including a jogging circuit with distance markers every 100 metres, skateboarding and roller-skating areas, football and baseball fields, multi-sports courts and picnic areas, making it a key destination for both tourism and outdoor activities in Valencia.
